A surveillance video was released by Philadelphia police last week showing a large group of young people running into a Walgreens store, robbing and causing thousands of dollars in damage.

The incident happened at around 10 p.m. on Thursday when a large group of men and women who “look like teens” stormed the Walgreens store, knocked items off the shelves and ran away with items in their hands, including soft drinks and snacks, investigators said.

Three men were captured on the video running through an aisles, knocking makeup off store shelves. Another camera angle recorded a larger group taking other items off shelves.

“Some members in the group threw merchandise at store employees, resulting in injuries,” police said after releasing a video that showed one boy grabbing items off of racks near the checkout counter and throwing the items at employees.

Some of the group can be seen using their cellphones to film the incident. At least one person in the group covered his face when he entered and left the store.

WPVI reported that a cashier was injured from being hit in the head with a glass bottle when he tried to intervene.

“About 60 juveniles walked into the establishment and began removing things from the shelves, destroying property inside the store. The cashier attempted to intervene and some heavy item—I believe it was a bottle—was thrown at him, striking him in the head,” said Capt. Sekou Kinebrew of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Kinebrew added, “Between the things that they stole and the property damaged inside, it’s between $6,000 and $7,000 in damage.”

The injured clerk has been treated and released with cuts and bruises to his head, the station reported.

No arrests were made. Police are inspecting surveillance inside the store to identify the actors.
