Dallas police are looking for two kidnappers after a man was shot and a woman sexually assaulted.
Investigators said two young men used an open balcony door to enter an apartment on Bolivar Dr., in Dallas, Texas, about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14.
The suspects pulled a man and woman out of their bed at gunpoint, then took them in a car to an ATM and forced them to withdraw cash before returning to the apartment complex, police said.
Once back, the male victim began to fight for his life with the younger suspect, and was shot in the hip. The man was able to grab the weapon, which is when the teen ran off and hopped back into the car, police said.
Both suspects then drove off with the woman they kidnapped.
Police say they raped her and left her several miles from her home.
“Anytime violence happens to anybody, it’s tragic, but when we’re sleeping in our bed at 1 a.m. in the morning, we feel like we’re safe,” DPD Major Danny Williams said during a news conference Thursday.
Police said a fingerprint found on a business card inside one of the victim’s wallet has led to the identity of one of the suspects, a 16-year-old male. They have a warrant for his arrest.
The other suspect is believed to be 18 or 19. Police have not been able to identify him.
Both victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to be physically fine.
