Dallas police are searching for a road rage suspect who opened fire on a vehicle and struck a 9-year-old girl on Sunday night, Jan. 19, police said.
The girl’s mother told police that she was driving northbound on I-35E in an SUV along with a man and her daughter. But as she was approaching the Manana Drive exit, an unknown driver swerved in front of her.
According to police, she swerved out of the way and honked her horn at the driver as she passed him, he then pulled in front of her and slammed on his brakes.
Although the woman lost control of her vehicle for a moment, she avoided the crash and drove around the suspect. It was then the man driving the car pulled alongside and fired at least three rounds into the driver’s side of the car, striking the 9-year-old in the backseat, police said.
The little girl was hospitalized in stable condition. There were no other injuries reported in the incident, police said.
The suspect, who remains at large, was described as a white male, slightly balding, with a salt-and-pepper goatee, police said.
The man was last seen traveling north, in a white older model sedan, WFAA reported.
