Blue Bell Creameries is working with police to find a woman in a shop caught on tape, opening an ice cream tub, licking it, and then returning it to the freezer.

In the video which has been viewed more than 10 million times on social media, you see a woman was licking an ice cream tub of Blue Bell’s Tin Roof flavor, then re-sealing the ice cream and returning it to a freezer store.

Is this historically the greatest ice cream offense?

In a declaration on its website, Blue Bell suggests clients involved should notice any tampering as their half-gallon ice cream cans are tightly frozen with a natural seal to the cardboard.

Here is the full statement from Blue Bell:

We want to thank our consumers for alerting us to the recent food tampering incident. We take this issue very seriously and are currently working with law enforcement, retail partners and social media platforms. This type of incident will not be tolerated.
Food safety is a top priority, and we work hard to provide a safe product and maintain the highest level of confidence from our consumers.

During production, our half gallons are flipped upside down and sent to a hardening room where the ice cream freezes to create a natural seal. The lids are frozen tightly to the carton. Any attempt at opening the product should be noticeable.

We will continue to monitor this situation.
