The Philadelphia Police Department has released photos of the six police officers who were shot in the line of duty during a seven-hour standoff in Tioga-Nicetown on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

The police officers have been identified as:

Officer Joshua Burkitt, 26, a 2-year veteran assigned to the 24th District sustained a gunshot wound to the left hand.

Officer Michael Guinter, 32, a 12-year veteran assigned to the Narcotics Strike Force, sustained gunshot wounds to both arms.

Officer Shaun Parker, 32, an 11-year veteran assigned to the Narcotics Strike Force, sustained a graze wound to the head.

Officer Nathaniel Harper, 43, a 19-year veteran assigned to the Narcotics Strike Force, sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg.

Officer Ryan Waltman, 42, a 12-year veteran assigned to the 39th District sustained a gunshot wound to the right hand.

Officer Justin Matthews, 31, a 3-year veteran assigned to the 16th District, sustained a graze wound to the left leg.

None of the police officers sustained life-threatening injuries and they were released from the hospital on Wednesday night, Philadelphia police Sgt. Eric Gripp said.

The shootout started at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon when police attempted to serve a narcotics warrant at a home on North 15th Street.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Maurice Hill, surrendered to authorities early Thursday morning, Aug. 15.

“It’s nothing short of a miracle that we don’t have multiple officers killed today,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said.
