Protests and riots have been raging for over 90 days in Portland. On Saturday, a member of Patriot Prayer was “hunted down” and “executed” by Antifa members, just because his views were different from those of the killer.

Chandler Pappas told The Common Sense Conservative that he was by the side of Aaron “Jay” Danielson in downtown Portland on the night of August 29.

They were part of the pro-Trump caravan that had woven its way through the city. Counter-protesters had congregated along the pavements, and the scene quickly became violent.

“We have a First Amendment in the country,” Pappas told the news site. “And for whatever reason, there seems to be this opposition that thinks we can’t do that. They have been attacking us for years. Really for decades in the grand scheme of things but very heavily in Portland.”

Pappas believes they had become targets of the shooter as they had become separated from the others. “I think the two of us alone away from all the rest of the Trump rally with all the trucks and all the other noise going on, I think they isolated us and they thought they could get away with it,” he said.

“I think they were looking for somebody just like us who were down there unprotected who didn’t go and bring guns because we didn’t have the intention of killing people.”

The two men were at the protest when Pappas heard: “‘We’ve got a couple of them right here. We’ve got a couple of them right here. Pull it out. Pull it out,” the attackers said, recalled Pappas.

The shooter then fired his gun, killing Danielson. “They recognized the Patriot Prayer hats,” said Pappas, reports Breitbart.

President Trump retweeted a post of condolences for Danielson.

“We turned around—I didn’t even, it didn’t even register that somebody was pointing a gun at us until the shots went off and [the shooter] took off running,” Pappas recalled.

He said it took a moment to realize what happened.

“Did he just shoot at me? Ok. I’m ok. Turn over and Jay’s dead because he believes something different than them. Jay’s not a racist. He’s not a xenophobe or whatever label. He’s not an ‘ist’ or an ‘ism,'” he said, describing Danielson as an “independent” and “good” man.

“He didn’t do anything to earn a bullet in the chest,” he added.

Pappas has appealed to the president to intervene in the situation in Portland.

“Send troops. Arrest these—Portland is as corrupt as any place you’ve ever seen, any place you’ve ever heard about in the movies,” he continued, reports Breitbart.

On Monday, Michael Forest Reinoehl, 48, was identified by anonymous police sources cited by The Oregon Live as the man under investigation for the shooting. No arrest has yet been made.

Reinoehl, a white man, has shown his support for Antifa in the past, posting on Instagram that he was “100% ANTIFA all the way,” and using hashtags #blacklivesmatter and #breonnataylor.

Reinoehl’s estranged sister recognized her brother’s photos on social media related to the shooting and contacted the police.

“We reached out to police and confirmed that we recognized Michael in the screenshots. On the one hand, this whole thing surprises the daylights out of us, because we always thought he is a lot of bark, not a lot of bite. But he’s also been very impulsive and irrational,” she said.

“Violence begets violence and hatred begets hatred. This is not the solution. My heart goes out to the victim. It always has, before I even knew my brother was involved.”

The Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler had refused President Donald Trump’s offer of help on Friday.

Democratic Gov. Kate Brown blames the “armed right-wing vigilantes” for the city’s rise in violence.

“The right-wing group Patriot Prayer and self-proclaimed militia members drove into downtown Portland last night, armed and looking for a fight.

Every Oregonian has the right to freely express their views without fear of deadly violence. I will not allow Patriot Prayer and armed white supremacists to bring more bloodshed to our streets. Time and again, from Charlottesville to Kenosha to Portland, we have seen the tragic outcome when armed right-wing vigilantes take matters into their own hands.

Gun violence is never, ever the answer,” she said in a Sunday statement, reports Breitbart.
