A Washington state school district has been convulsed by complaints from parents when they learned that a teacher recently read a book to her six and 7-year-old students that promote the transgender lifestyle.
A first-grade teacher in the Bellingham school district, Jennifer Miller, subjected her students as young as six and seven to a book known as “I am Jazz.” The book details a biological boy as young as two years old, beginning his transition into a woman with the support of his parents.
Young America’s Foundation (YAF) received the news through the father of one of the students who even sent a screenshot of a conversation with the teacher who admits to reading that book to her students.
“Yes, I did read this book,” the teacher replied, according to the outlet. “As a district we are working hard to support all members of our school community and promote inclusion through understanding and compassion.”
YAF also reported that concerned parents contacted Bellingham school officials, but no action was taken. A parent contacted Superintendent Greg Baker, who did not address it as any parent suffering from such a situation would have liked.
Ultimately the parent in question opted to pull the child out of school. Baker, to everyone’s surprise, finally made the controversy public on the district’s website last week, where he praised “I Am Jazz” and touted the district’s “values” as well as its “commitment to equitable, diverse and inclusive education.”
Concerned parents contacted school administrators and the school board, who declined to take action.
A YAF investigation revealed that Jennifer Mason, president of the Bellingham School Board, owns and operates a sex toy store that describes itself as “for all ages.”
The book “I Am Jazz” already has a history of controversy. In 2015, it caused a stir when parents of some students at Mitchell Elementary School in Kittery, Maine, criticized school officials for not notifying them that their children were required to read the book.
“I am Jazz” was written by Jazz Jennings, born a male but has lived as a female since the age of 5.
Jennings underwent gender confirmation surgery in 2018. Before the surgery, Jennings posted a video to fans proclaiming great excitement about it, “Like penis in vagina. That’s some serious m!”&%$…I can’t believe this. I’m getting a vagina!” she can be heard saying.
