This 4th of July, Jon James, a resident is proud of his son, Cameron James, who mowed an image of the American flag into their front yard, to honor a friend who was killed in action last week.

The American Flag could be seen from above in the front lawn of a home in the Sendera Ranch subdivision of Haslet. Resident Jon James proudly told a local Facebook group it was his son who did that.

Cameron James, 17, told NBC that his aspiration is to honor an Army friend who was killed on duty for the Army last week in Arizona.

“Our mower has different settings, so I just changed the settings so the grass would be different lengths for the stripes,” said James.

He used a weed eater to make the 50 stars in the top left corner of the flag and it took him about four hours to do it.

“It was a lot of work, but it was worth it”, said James.

James said he also did it show his patriotism for the upcoming 4th of July holiday.
