A 19-year-old man in Randleman was arrested for allegedly chasing two people through the woods with a machete on Sunday, slicing them as they ran for their lives, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened in the woods near the town of Randleman, North Carolina, about 75 miles west of Raleigh.
Deputies said they were dispatched to a location on Torch Drive on Sunday, Aug. 4, after an assault call. When they arrived, they found not one, but two bloodied people at different locations in the area, both with multiple cuts, said a release posted on Facebook.
A man was found “covered in blood and sitting in the driveway.”
The suspect was identified as Elijah Stone Bailey, 19. He was arrested in what authorities are calling a domestic incident. He was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. His bond was set at $350,000, officials said.
One of the victims told deputies he was chased by two people, one of whom cut him multiple times with a machete.
Neither was identified. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment and were in stable condition Monday, officials said.
Details of a second suspect being involved have not been released.
Investigators did not say what motivated the attacks but suggested Bailey may have a connection to the victims.
