A New Jersey nurse reunited with a man she cared for decades ago when he was born prematurely in the same hospital where she is now watching over his son.
When Renata Freydin and David Caldwell’s son was born 10 weeks early on Jan. 30, 2020, he required some extra care from the NICU at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in Brunswick, New Jersey, Fox News reported.
While Freydin was looking through her 33-year-old fiancé’s baby book, she stumbled across a picture of him as a newborn and a nurse was smiling and was holding him.
“I knew that lady!!,” Freydin wrote in a Facebook post. “I immediately asked him who she was and he confirmed that she was the nurse who took care of him during his stay in the NICU and his mom loved her so much that she needed a photo of the two of them on the day he was discharged.”
Although Freydin noticed that the nurse in the picture looked awfully similar to a nurse that was looking over their son Zayne during his time in the NICU at the hospital, with three decades gone since the picture was taken, David didn’t believe her claim.
So, the couple brought the picture to the hospital where three other nurses confirmed it was her, Lissa McGowan.
“Yesterday (Valentine’s Day) she was back at work and taking care of our little nugget again so we had to recreate the picture!” Freydin wrote in her post.
The mother shared that she takes comfort knowing her child is being cared for by the same nurse that treated her fiancé.
“The past 2 weeks have been filled with worries and uncertainty but we can breathe easy knowing my lil nuggets nurse is the same one that helped the man I love when he was in the same situation,” Freydin continued.
