The Newport News Police Department in Southeast Virginia is searching for a Richmond firefighter, Daniel Lewis, reported missing from his Newport News home on Monday, July 29.

Police responded to Lewis’s home in the 400 block of Nelson Drive for a welfare check on the 30-year-old firefighter after a Battalion chief from the Richmond Fire Department called in.

Fire officials said that when no one answered, the property manager let officers into the home, and Lewis was not found inside, WTKR reported.

Lewis, a firefighter with Fire Station 15, reportedly commutes from Newport News to Richmond for work, according to WTKR.
