A 4-year-old girl who was believed to be missing on the subway on the Upper East Side was found safe with a babysitter all along on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Kaitlyn Daniel’s mother had reported the girl missing, saying they were separated on the subway.
Police investigating took the mother to her apartment. There, she refused to allow them to go into the apartment.
Police heard a noise inside and then found the mother’s 12-year-old son inside eating chicken on a bed.
The 4-year-old girl was later found at a neighborhood day care.
The mother was initially taken into custody after her narrative of the incident changed several times.
Authorities were going to charge her with endangering the welfare of a child but dropped that and sent her for psychological evaluation.
