After the shocking death of Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography of the film Rust, another tragedy has occurred in the life of actor Alec Baldwin, as the stage technician Jason Miller was hospitalized and could lose an arm.

Miller was the victim of a dangerous poisonous spider attack, which caused tissue death near the bite and caused his body to generate an unbalanced immune response, according to Sky News, Nov. 7.

The victim had to undergo surgery several times in an effort by surgeons to save his arm after he was bitten by a brown recluse spider in the U.S. state of New Mexico, where the film is shot.

“He has been hospitalized and endured multiple surgeries each day as doctors do their best to stop the infection and try to save his arm from amputation,” Sky News quoted the site as saying.

He added: “It will be a very long road to recovery for Jason if the medical team is able to save his arm. If under worse circumstances he loses his arm, this is a life-changing and devastating event for Jason and his family.”

Production on Rust, a movie in which the old west is staged, was halted following the death of 42-year-old Hutchins, which occurred on Oct. 21 after Baldwin shot him with a gun, amid confusing facts.

Baldwin has also acknowledged that the film is unlikely to be completed, as noted by News.

One of the workers reportedly said, “None of us expect this movie to be finished. Ever. We know this is the end of the road for Rust sadly.”

He added: “Maybe way down the line it will get picked up again but right now, there’s no way it’s going to continue getting made. If by a miracle it ever is though, the movie will absolutely be dedicated to Halyna.”

Authorities have refused to rule out bringing charges against Baldwin for the shooting, to which they have said he is “an active part of this investigation.”

In what several versions of what happened coincide, is that during the shooting of the low-budget filming, several members of the cast and crew have complained about the lack of respect for security, and the inexperience of the gunmen, although Baldwin refuted it.

In this sense, the actress and film director Angelina Jolie insisted on the importance of extreme protocols for the use of weapons on stage.

“I can’t imagine what these families are going through. At this moment, the grief and the tragedy of that accident is quite overwhelming,” she commented

She added: “I’ve always been very careful because I’ve had to work with guns a lot. The way I’ve worked or checked when I’m directing, there are certain procedures. You have to take it very seriously.”

As for the possible legal implications, noted U.S. attorney and analyst, Jonathan Turley, believes Baldwin could be legally charged.

“The problem is that Baldwin was not simply an actor. He was also one of the producers on a site that had reportedly experienced prior discharges and complaints about site safety,” Turley described Oct. 24.
