They called it Operation Independence Day and officers arrested sex traffickers and recovered more than 100 child victims in Texas and across the country during the monthlong FBI-led operation, according to CBSDFW.
The city of Dallas came in just second to Las Vegas, Nevada, in the number of teenagers who agents believe were victims of sex trafficking. In all, 13 juveniles were identified and recovered in Dallas while in Vegas 14 young people were located.
Operation Independence Day also found 4 teens in San Antonio, Texas, and 3 in Houston, that are believed to have been in the sex trade.
The sweep included undercover operations and led to five dozen federal criminal investigations being opened.
In all, 103 underage victims were recovered or identified nationwide and 67 suspected traffickers were arrested, the bureau said.
The monthlong effort involved the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
