Officer Michael Langsdorf of the North County Police Cooperative (NCPC) shot while responding to a call County has died and a suspect is in custody.

Langsdorf, 40, was shot by the person trying to cash the bad check, police said. He didn’t recognize the suspect.

Langsdorf, 40, leaves behind two children, his parents and fiancé.

Langsdorf had 17 years of experience police and this April joined the North County Police Cooperative.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Langsdorf’s family and friends,” The North County Police Cooperative’s Facebook post read.

The investigation is ongoing.
