A Wyoming teenager who was reported missing on Thursday,  Oct. 3, was found dead on Monday, Oct. 7, in a home outside of Sturgis.

A search warrant was executed Monday at a home in the Blucksberg area, near Sturgis, according to the Meade County Sheriff’s Office. A body believed to be 16-year-old Shayna Ritthaler was discovered in a basement bedroom.

Police did not release how Ritthaler died. An autopsy is pending for later this week, officials said.

Criminal charges are pending against one juvenile suspect but due to the age of the suspect, the name is not being released.

Ritthaler was last seen getting into a car in Moorcroft. Police believed at that time she was probably in the Sturgis or Deadwood area.

Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Deadwood Police Department, Moorcroft Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation worked on this case.
