The estranged husband and father-in-law of a Florida woman who was found dead days after going missing are now facing murder charges relating to her death, according to authorities.

Nicole Montalvo was reported missing after failing to pick up her 8-year-old son from school on Tuesday. Oct. 22.

Montalvo was last seen around 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, when she dropped off her son with his father and grandparents at their home  in St. Cloud.

Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson confirmed Sunday, Oct. 27, that human remains found on Friday, Oct. 25,  belong to Montalvo.

Her estranged husband, Christopher Otero-Rivera and her father-in-law, Angel Luis Rivera are now charged with premeditated murder, Gibson said. Both were previously named persons of interest in her disappearance and were both arrested on unrelated charges on Friday.

According to police, the investigation will continue and they will search for any evidence needed.

Court records showed Otero-Rivera had a history of domestic violence-related charges involving his estranged wife, dating back to 2016, WKMG-TV reported. Those records include a charge of kidnapping, battery, and aggravated assault in 2018.
