Nancy Magaña, a 24-year-old middle school teacher at Del Vallejo Middle School, was shot and later died from her injuries in San Bernardino early Saturday morning, on Aug.17, police said.
According to the San Bernardino Police Department (SBPD), Magaña, of San Bernardino, was shot around 2:01 a.m.
Maria Magaña, her sister, told KTLA that she had gone out with her 5-year-old son and boyfriend to Dave & Buster’s on Friday evening and headed to Delmann Heights Park before ending the night.
Police said they responded to the scene around 2 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a shooting. Magaña was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Magaña was a new teacher at Del Vallejo Middle School. Her sister said that she was a kind and loving mother. She got into teaching because she wanted to help the children in her community have better lives.
Maria Magaña told The San Bernardino Sun newspaper that she doesn’t think that her sister was targeted, and her sister never affiliated with anyone with legal woes.
