Democrats have made it clear that “nothing is off the table” when it comes to their efforts to block President Trump’s selection of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg as a Supreme Court justice.
President Trump announced Barrett as his nomination on Saturday, Sept. 26, eight days after Ginsburg’s death at age 87 from pancreatic cancer.
At a press briefing at the White House on Sunday, Sept. 27, the president commented on the media’s treatment so far of Barrett, regarding her religious beliefs. “We have noticed some comments in the media about my incredibly qualified nominee, Amy. The New York Times said her religion is not consistent with American values,” Trump said. “She’s Catholic. That covers a lot of people. That’s a very disgraceful thing to say,” he said, as reported by Fox News.
When John F. Kennedy became the first Catholic president in 1961 there was controversy surrounding his election, as many Protestants questioned whether a Catholic president could govern without taking orders from the pope. However, President Trump said, “We settled this 60 years ago with the election of John F. Kennedy.”
“But seriously, they’re going after her Catholicism. I will stand with her, fight with her, and we will make sure that these attacks stop because … it’s unprecedented. They’re basically fighting a major religion in our country. It’s just incredible,” President Trump said.
Slurs against Barrett were also prevalent on social media. Ibram X. Kendi, an American author who became the new director of the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University in July, took to Twitter to target Barrett and her husband for adopting two Black children from Haiti, calling the couple, “white colonizers.”
“Some White colonizers ‘adopted’ Black children. They ‘civilized’ these ‘savage’ children in the ‘superior’ ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity,” Kendi wrote Saturday.
His tweet was in response to a since-deleted one about white people adopting black children. “And whether this is Barrett or not is not the point. It is a belief too many White people have: if they have or adopt a child of color, then they can’t be racist,” Kendi continued.
“I’m challenging the idea that White parents of kids of color are inherently ‘not racist’ and the bots completely change what I’m saying to ‘White parents of kids of color are inherently racist.’ These live and fake bots are good at their propaganda. Let’s not argue with them.”

Another tweet came from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday, after a call with Democratic Caucus on Saturday evening when he threatened, “Let me be clear: if Leader McConnell and Senate Republicans move forward with this, then nothing is off the table for next year,” Schumer declared. “Nothing is off the table.”
Make no mistake:
A vote for Judge Amy Coney Barrett is a vote to eliminate health care for millions of Americans and to end protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions in the middle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schumer followed up with a tweet on Sunday, “Make no mistake: A vote for Judge Amy Coney Barrett is a vote to eliminate health care for millions of Americans and to end protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions in the middle the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Another Democrat, Sen. Ed Markey, has also threatened to pack the Supreme Court.
If Republicans confirm Judge Barrett, end the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court.

A member of the Hollywood liberal elite, actress Debra Messing, who has delighted in attacking the president over the years, now accuses President Trump of putting Barrett up for approval in the Supreme Court before the November election so she will help vote him in for a second term if the president contests the election results.
THIS IS A LAST DITCH POWER GRAB. At GRAVE risk:
🚨Preexisting Conditions PROTECTIONS
🚨Women’s Bodily Autonomy
🚨Response to the Climate Crisis#Trump said he is pushing this through so she can vote him in w/ contested election results. https://t.co/zAOLCsqPgA

The treatment Barrett has begun receiving can be similarly compared to the disgusting way Democrats treated the nomination in 2018 of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, leading to a backlash against Democrats in the 2018 midterms, with the Republicans majority in both the Senate and Supreme Court becoming more powerful.
The president has suggested the same could happen in the November elections.
