Family and friends are mourning the loss of an Oklahoma elderly couple killed in an accident this week.

Davis and Dorothy Jim, of McAlester, lived more than 50 years together. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, they were fatally struck by a car on U.S. Highway 270, according to News On 6.

Dorothy died at the scene and Davis was flown by medical helicopter Tulsa area hospital with severe injuries and he died later that day.

The Krebs Police Department said the couple was having their car worked on and were crossing the highway to get to the Dollar General when they were struck by the car, News 9 reported.

The driver told police she was talking to her child in the back seat and didn’t notice them in the road.

The Jims, who were loved by many, leave behind 6 daughters, 23 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends from all over are praying for the family.

“They had friends everywhere, my dad was such a friendly person, he didn’t meet a stranger, you know everybody was welcome, everybody was a friend,” their daughter, Lori Daney said.

While tragic, Lori said the fact that they died together was a blessing in disguise.

“They always said to each other they wouldn’t know what to do without the other,” she said.
