The attorney general from Arizona has published a statement warning Biden Justice Department to keep their hands off the post-election audit on June 14, aiming directly at the nation’s top law- enforcement officer, the U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Mark Brnovich, a Republican running for a U.S. Senate seat, accused Garland of showing “an alarming disdain for state sovereignty” in a letter released Monday.

“My office is not amused by the DOJ’s posturing and will not tolerate any effort to undermine or interfere with our State Senate’s audit to reassure Arizonans of the accuracy of our elections,” the letter reads.

“We stand ready to defend federalism and state sovereignty against any partisan attacks or federal overreach,” he added.

Brnovich’s response came not long after Garland’s announcement that said he would “scrutinize” audits defending the election integrity of the 2020 presidential vote to protect election records and avoid intimidation of voters.

“Many of the justifications proffered in support of these post-election audits and restrictions on voting have relied on assertions of material vote fraud in the 2020 election that have been refuted by law enforcement and intelligence agencies,” he said.

Garland generated criticism with his statement that some took as a threat against states that will most likely follow the example of Arizona. An audit considered exemplary by legislators from other states is about to be finalized in Arizona.

Garland also criticized the ballot-review process as states used “abnormal post-election audit methodologies that may put the integrity of the voting process at risk and undermine public confidence in our democracy.”

However, Garland’s reasoning, according to Brnovich, should be derided, citing a letter from the department’s Civil Rights Division.

“Your comments followed a May 5 letter from Pamela Karlan of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, on the subject of the Arizona Senate’s oversight of the Maricopa County audit. This letter appeared more interested in supporting the hysterical outcries of leftist pundits on cable television, rather than the rule of law,” wrote Brnovich.

“Arizona will not sit back and let the Biden administration abuse its authority, refuse to uphold laws, or attempt to commandeer our state’s sovereignty,” Brnovich stated.
