A Georgia man fled after he murdered his girlfriend and then shot a DeKalb County police officer multiple times early Thursday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. near the 4800 block of Hodgdon Corners Cove in Lithonia, DeKalb County, Georgia. Police described it as a “domestic dispute between the boyfriend and girlfriend at the location, which escalated to the boyfriend shooting the female victim.”
Police said when they arrived at the location, they were ambushed. One of the officers was shot multiple times and was then transported to a local hospital. He is expected to fully recover.
After the shooting, police entered the home and found a woman who was in critical condition after she had been shot at the scene. She was pronounced dead while being loaded into an ambulance.
DeKalb Police are looking for 27-year-old Otis Walker, whom they consider armed and dangerous.
“We believe he’s still in the area,” said Maj. Jerry Lewis of DeKalb Police. “We have our perimeters tight and we’re gonna try to locate him. Hopefully he’s still within the perimeter.”
