In Indiana, some alert grandparents were able to stop a man who police said broke into their home and tried to take their 6-year-old granddaughter, according to Fox 59.
Lebanon Indiana Police said on the night of June 10, 37-year-old Benjamin Dillon busted in the front door of grandmother Patty Roth’s home to wake her up.
“I was sound asleep in my bedroom and this guy came kicking in and said, ‘You have my daughter,” Roth recalled she was shaking so bad and “was nervous, very nervous.”
The man claimed that the girl was his daughter and that he was going to take her, police said.
The girl was not hurt.
When the officers showed up, they used a Taser several times to subdue Dillon while he got aggressive and tried to fight officers.
The girl’s grandparents thought Dillon was on drugs. Records show two drugs arrests for Dillon just in 2019.
“I don’t understand why he picked our apartment. I’ll never figure that one out,” Roth said.
Roth hoped Dillon gets himself back on his feet.
Roth wanted him to get help and also gave him a warning that she wouldn’t want him to walk back in her apartment again. Roth said, “He will regret it the next time.”
While this incident happened in June, news of Dillon’s alleged crimes began to go viral in August.
