The Oregon National Guard was sent Portland after leftist protesters burst onto downtown streets on Wednesday night, Nov. 4, sparking moments of widespread violence. The police had to intervene and there were several arrests. Other cities around the country like New York and Minneapolis also reported major riots on Wednesday night.

Portland authorities sounded the alarm after reporting widespread rioting after groups of leftist protesters destroyed property on downtown streets. According to Fox News, the National Guard was called in after “widespread violence” was declared in the area.

“Unified Command on National Guard activation: Widespread violence is occurring in Downtown Portland. In the interest of public safety, Governor Kate Brown, under advice of the Unified Command, has activated the use of the Oregon National Guard to assist local law enforcement.” Multnomah County Sheriff reported in a Twitter statement.

Gov. Kate Brown on Wednesday had extended her executive order creating a unified command among local law enforcement agencies, led by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police.

The outbreak of destructive protests comes a day after the controversial presidential election, in which the Democratic Party is being accused of fraud in several key districts, seeking to change the course of the results.

As previously reported in The BL, several leftist groups organized for months to take to the streets to demonstrate and riot in case President Trump became president.

Several leftist groups led primarily by the BLM and Shutdown DC held training sessions for months for protesters on Election Day and beyond.

In between Wednesday night’s protests, a group of protesters was filmed by a Fox News correspondent burning a U.S. flag.

In New York City, violent demonstrations were also reported that resulted in the mobilization of hundreds of police officers who had to confront armed activists. The New York Police Department announced about 50 arrests related to the protests. Police confiscated several weapons, including knives, a stun gun, and explosives.
