Parents in Connecticut state are complaining that their children are being indoctrinated in kindergarten in transgender ideology through reading books, which create confusion for them about the sex they were assigned at birth. In addition, they claim that the state is not allowing parents to choose another curriculum for their young children, as Breitbart reported. 

Parents from West Hartford Public Schools, Connecticut, in the complaint they made to Parents Defending Education (PDE), a national U.S. organization that advocates for children’s education without indoctrination, included a list of reading books with transgender content being implemented in kindergarten without exception.

“I am troubled by When Aidan Became a Brother (4th grade) which is full on gender theory, that the sex you’re assigned at birth is “wrong” and you’re actually a boy,” said one parent, as PDE reported. “This is being presented as factual to very young children.”

Institutions are using reference books that address transgender ideology, and, as parents assured PDE, West Hartford district officials told them they are not allowed to opt out of another curriculum.

Amazon’s description of the book states that “This sweet and groundbreaking picture book, winner of the 2020 Stonewall Book Award, celebrates the changes in a transgender boy’s life, from his initial coming-out to becoming a big brother.”

Meanwhile in the presentation of another of the books mentioned by parents, called “Introducing Teddy,” Amazon mentions that it “introduces the youngest readers to understanding gender identity and transition in an accessible and heart-warming story about being true to yourself,” citing a part of the story that reads, “In my heart, I’ve always known that I’m a girl teddy, not a boy teddy. I wish my name was Tilly, not Thomas.” 

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported what Erika Sanzi of PDE expressed to them, “Teaching elementary students that their parents assigned them their gender at birth but may have gotten it wrong because anatomy is separate from gender is an obscene example of adults using ideology to confuse and manipulate children’s minds.”

“The fact that parents are not permitted to opt their children out of this content based in gender ideology is so sinister, it’s hard to believe it’s even legal,” Sanzi added. 

In addition to instruction in transgender ideology, the West Hartford Public School District (WHPS) has installed other controversial progressive agenda items among children from an early age. Something parents also reported to the PDE organization by submitting documentation to prove it. 

PDE shared a memo dated Oct. 14 from Dr. Roszena Haskins, director of equity promotion at the West Hartford Public School District (WHPS) which indicated that they “redoubled district-wide efforts to attend to the social and emotional needs of children and adults.”

They implement this through the “social and emotional learning” (SEL) program, which teaches the principles of Critical Race Theory and LGBTQ activism.
