Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany condemned House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s push for a controversial bill to nationalize elections, saying it flouts “the will of the people.”

McEnany is referring to the  H. R. 1 For the People Act., a federally-projected election reform bill passed earlier this month by House Democrats, according to the March 18 Republican Daily (RD) alternative media.

“What Nancy Pelosi is doing is flouting the will of the people—throwing it away,” said McEnany.

The electorate must be respected, she said on the March 15 Sean Hannity show.

She added, according to RD: “Who she wants should be the person who is there saying ‘I run elections, I federalize elections,’ where all I want is for the vote of the American people to be truly and accurately counted.”

McEnany said state legislatures are authorized to intervene in election procedures, not Democrat secretaries of state.

“We have to oppose it because integrity matters. State legislatures should be paving the way for elections, not lawless, undemocratic, unconstitutional actors like secretaries of state, who are Democrats and make a mockery of the Constitution,” McEnany said.

In this regard, Michigan Court of Claims Chief Judge Christopher Murray found that changes imposed shortly before the 2020 presidential election by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D) violated the state’s Administrative Procedures Act.

Benson violated state law by issuing unilateral absentee voting rules, upholding a key claim made by the Trump campaign about the 2020 election, Murray ruled on March 12, according to Breitbart.

Notwithstanding the notions to the contrary, Pelosi has insisted since last year that the eventual H. R. 1 Act will have federal-wide application.

McEnany’s consideration is widely supported by a vast majority of Americans, according to the results of a survey conducted by Rasmussen.

The survey noted that 75% of respondents support a law requiring voters to be identified by a personal document, while H.R. 1 would only “force states to allow anyone to vote who simply signs a form saying they are who they say they are,” according to the analysts, which would pose a severe risk to electoral integrity.

It also noted that 89 percent of Republicans support such a requirement, as do 60 percent of Democrats and 77 percent of voters who are not affiliated with the major parties, Breitbart reported on March 17.

Democratic lawmakers led by Pelosi are attempting to go against the overwhelming will of the majority of Americans, given that they already passed the controversial H. R. 1 For the People Act in the House of Representatives.
