Last Monday, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden participated in an event with NBC where he answered questions from the public, one of which referred to the historic 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that ended up legalizing abortion in the United States. He said that if the Supreme Court tries to reverse the legislation, he will make abortion “the law of the land,” Daily Caller reported.

A woman presented the presidential hopeful with the scenario of having to study and wanting to finish school before starting a family.

“Having access to birth control and safe reproductive health care was imperative in making that come true for me.

“Considering the Supreme Court nomination of Amy Coney Barrett, what are your particular plans to protect women’s reproductive rights in the U.S.?,” the woman asked, referring to the possibility that the new Supreme Court with a conservative majority could reverse the ruling that allowed abortion to be legalized in the country.

Biden said, “Number one, we don’t know exactly what she will do, although the expectation is that she may very well move to overrule Roe,” and stated, “The only responsible response to that would be to pass legislation making Roe the law of the land. That’s what I would do.”

In the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the Supreme Court ruled in a 7-2 vote that under the right to privacy granted by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, women could choose to have an abortion and that the state could not deprive them of it.

President Trump used Biden’s comments to criticize him and democrats for their stance on abortion.

In January 2019, Democratic lawmaker Kathy Tran of Virginia introduced a bill to remove restrictions on third-trimester abortions, just like in New York. In a video that generated much rejection and disgust the Democratic representative can be seen saying that her proposal aims to eliminate any time limit for abortion, even when the woman is giving birth to the baby.

Likewise, Kamala Harris has been backed by NARAL Pro Choice, (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League) the most pro-abortion group in the United States as well as by the abortion clinic Planned Parenthood.

During this year’s Republican National Convention, Sister Deirdre Byrne said Biden-Harris, “are the most anti-life presidential ticket ever, even supporting the horrors of late-term abortions and infanticide.”

In mid-September, Catholic Vote launched a digital ad campaign to expose Biden’s anti-Catholic record.

Brian Burch, president of Catholic Vote said, “Joe Biden’s record makes clear he will not protect our Catholic values or defend our way of life. For Catholics who cherish the Faith and their freedom to live it, a Biden presidency represents an existential threat.”
