One Democratic voter in Iowa got an earful from 2020 candidate Joe Biden, after asking him to not give his support to building a new pipeline. Biden told him to “go vote for someone else.”

The voter told Biden he would support him in the general election against President Donald Trump but was planning to put his support behind billionaire Tom Steyer in the Democratic primary.

Ed Fallon, who was an official in the general assembly in Iowa, and now is involved in an organization that tackles climate change, was grabbed by Biden after he questioned the 2020 candidate on climate change.

“I like you, and I’m going to support you if you win the nomination because we have to get rid of [Donald Trump], but what are we going to do about climate change? … We have to stop building and replacing pipelines,” said Fallon.

“You say you’re against pipelines, but then you want to replace these gas lines. That’s not going to work.”

Biden replied: “You need to go vote for somebody else,” adding, “you’re not going to vote for me in the primary.”

“I’m going to vote for you in the general if you treat me right,” the man said.

Biden was incorrect in his assumption as to who the man was voting for.

“Now, you believe that Bernie can do something by 2030,” he said.

“I’m actually supporting Tom Steyer,” the man interjected.

“Tom Steyer? Well, that’s good,” Biden replied.

Steyer was quick to respond on Twitter, to the video, telling Biden, “This is no way to treat an Iowan.”

“He said he’d vote for the Dem in the general b/c he knows how important it is to beat Trump. We need immediate action on climate. If you don’t agree, happy to talk @ debate. But don’t take it out on voters we need to win in Nov.”

“He and I had this conversation before and it’s never been resolved,”  Fallon tells The Independent. “It seemed like there’s a disconnect.”

On his website, Fallon writes that his most recent exchange is “disturbing on a number of levels.”

“His propensity to violate personal space is a huge non-asset in politics, and his frequent gaffes are prime fodder for opponents and the media. … Most important, Biden is simply wrong on climate change, and out-of-step with voters on so many issues,” said Fallon.
