Despite the weekend’s heat, Bible studies and services still continue at Akron Alliance Fellowship Church, in Ohio. Their brand new air conditioning unit was stolen about three weeks ago.
Pastor Gus Brown told Fox affiliate Fox 8 Cleveland that someone must have intentionally committed the theft as the wires were cut perfectly and the tubing was cut using a tubing cutter.
“It had to be at least two because one person would not have been able to pick it up,” Brown added.
The church called the Akron police immediately and the investigation is proceeding.
In the meantime, the church shared a strong message on its welcome sign: “Whoever stole our AC Unit: Keep it. It’s hot where (you’re) going.”
Brown said that the meaning is clear. “That you are wrong and staying on this path will only get you one place. And we don’t want you to go there. Our desire is to even see him at our church one day.”
The pastor said the $3,500 air conditioning unit had only been in for a few days and they haven’t made the first payment on it.
The church plans to hold a collection plate this Sunday for the AC fund.
