President Biden has missed a great opportunity to become a statesman by allowing the sham impeachment against former President Donald Trump to go ahead, says one of his two attorneys.

Using political preferences to tear down the Constitution is what Democrats are doing in an attempt to stop Donald Trump from ever running for president again. It is a political witch hunt, and is completely unconstitutional.

President Trump condemned violence at all times, and it is now known the riot at Capitol Hill was preplanned, so falsely accusing Trump of incitement at a time when the country needs healing is unforgivable.

Speaking with Sean Hannity on “Hannity” one of Trump’s attorneys who is representing the former president in his Senate impeachment trial next week, said Senate Democrats have already convicted him before any trial.

“This process is completely unconstitutional and it is a very, very dangerous road to take with respect to the First Amendment, putting at risk any passionate political speaker, which is really against everything we believe and in this country,”  said attorney David Schoen.

“I think it’s also the most ill-advised legislative action that I’ve seen in my lifetime,” he added. “It is tearing the country apart at a time when we don’t need anything like that.”

The trial is to begin on Feb. 9, and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts will not preside over it, instead it will be Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).

“Can you imagine any American citizen considering it to be a trial in which the judge and jury has already announced publicly that the defendant must be convicted in this case?” Schoen asked. “And in fact, Senator Leahy called on, demanded that Senator McConnell vote for a conviction also … how can we possibly have a fair trial? Chuck Schumer, Senator Schumer promised a fair and full trial. You can’t, when you know that the jurors and the judge are biased going in.”

Impeachment managers are intending to show montages of violent actions that occurred during the Jan. 6 riot, with the intention of blaming Trump for their actions.

“This has nothing to do with President Trump and the country doesn’t need to just watch videos of riots and unrest,” Schoen said. “We need to heal now. We need to move forward.”

Trump’s legal team filed a response to the impeachment article on Tuesday, calling for the Senate to acquit Trump of the charges of wrongdoing, reported Fox News.

“It is denied that the 45th President of the United States ever engaged in a violation of his oath of office,” the Trump legal team brief states. “To the contrary, at all times, Donald J. Trump fully and faithfully executed his duties as President of the United States, and at all times acted to the best of his ability to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, while never engaging in any high Crimes or Misdemeanors.”
