The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed on Fox News “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that they are using the military to move illegal migrants to other destinations within the U.S.
The statement came shortly after Carlson announced on his show that he received a leaked email of the Air Force Lt. Col. Matthew Burrows from his whistleblower.
“Over the next few days, weeks, or months you may see passenger aircraft on our ramp transporting undocumented non-citizens,” the email reads.
Laughlin AFB runway would be used to “transport undocumented non-citizens via a Boeing 747” by ICE and Del Rio Border Patrol, according to the email.
“Do not take photographs and refrain from posting anything on social media. If anyone asks you about it, refer them to public affairs,” the email concludes.
Carlson then received confirmation from spokesman Chris Mitchell via the Pentagon that the movements were a part of “the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s mission.”
“He told us then to direct any further questions to ICE,” the Fox News host added.
ICE responded not long after the show aired.
“On June 17, 2021, a Memorandum of Agreement, or MOA, between DHS and DOD was signed by all parties and finalized,” ICE confirmed.
“On June 29, 2021, ICE Air Operations utilized Laughlin Air Force Base for the first time, pursuant to the MOA, to transport non-citizens from CBP custody to ICE custody. Since June 29, approximately 780 non-citizens were transferred via ICE Air on six ICE Air flights.”
“Collaboration with federal partners enables ICE to transfer non-citizens safely and humanely to ICE field offices where the appropriate level of custody and supervision will be determined. For example, ICE Air conducts southwest border flights which involve the transfer of migrants from CBP custody to ICE custody,” the statement continued.
Carlson accused all these federal agencies of “changing the composition of this country—breaking the federal laws,—without asking the people’s permission if you care about ‘democracy.’”
“What other military resources are being used to conduct this, an operation that most Americans knew nothing about, that they did not consent to, that Congress never voted on, and which is clearly illegal,” Carlson asked.
He also showed his concern about the locations that these immigrants are being moved to. He wanted to know that how much money the government spent conducting this project and whether they were concerned about the residents whose neighborhood was about to welcome the aliens.
“What’s the number nationally? Why don’t we know this? Whose country is this? Who’s in charge?” he asked.
