On Sunday afternoon, Nov. 21, in the city of Waukesha, Wisconsin, a pickup truck intentionally ran over dozens of people parading through the streets, killing at least five and injuring 40 others. The alleged perpetrator, who is now in custody, according to media investigations, was a ‘career criminal’.
While local police are trying to establish the motive for the incident as well as the final number of injuries and fatalities as they gather information, social media users posted videos of the incident showing a red Ford Escape speeding over a group of people in a typical Christmas parade.
Reports point out to the cruelty of the individual who passed at about 65 km. per hour over women, children and men, blowing up an old woman even, without stopping.
According to the Post Millennial, Waukesha, Wisconsin Police Chief Daniel Thompson confirmed at a press conference following the tragedy that a police officer opened fire on the vehicle and that a suspect is in custody.
Although authorities have not confirmed the identity of the suspect, Andy Ngo, a well-known independent investigative journalist, affirms that the perpetrator of the fatal attack is Darrell E. Brooks, a black man in his 30s who has an extensive criminal record and who, two days before Sunday, was released from jail on $1,000 bail for three misdemeanors and two felonies.
Brooks is a ‘career criminal’ with multiple priors. He has a history of resisting arrest, obstruction, assault, battery, statutory sexual enticement, strangulation and suffocation, destruction of property, illegal possession of firearms, bail jumping, domestic violence, drug related charges and is a registered sex offender.
Andy Ngo also claims the offender has a history of supporting the Marxist Black Lives Matter movement, accused of promoting hatred of whites, in addition to some publications on how to commit crimes without getting arrested.
“Man arrested for mass casualty incident at #Waukesha, Wis. Christmas parade has posts on his social media in support of BLM, George Floyd and black nationalist causes. He also has a post about how to get away with running over people in the street,” the journalist wrote.
However, other media outlets claim that Brooks’ social media accounts were deleted after the incident and all that remained were screenshots taken by network users.
Among the incriminating evidence against Brooks found by Ngo is a video from his YouTube account where he is singing rap music featuring the red Ford Escape pickup truck. In the video, Brooks appears with guns and with an attitude, perhaps typical of the music style, of a thug.
According to CBS News, Brooks was running from police after stabbing someone and ran into the parade he ran over, for which authorities have ruled out a possible terror attack.
The FBI is involved in the investigation assisting local police.
No law enforcement source has confirmed the suspect’s identity yet.
The Biden administration also published a message regarding the incident:
“The White House is closely monitoring the situation in Waukesha and our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by this terrible incident. We have reached out to state and local officials to offer any support and assistance as needed.”
