“The historical amnesia about the dangers of communism and socialism” influences young people, as reflected in the results of a recent survey according to Marion Smith, executive director of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC).

Contrary to what happens among other generations, millennials [young people ages 23 to 38] and ‘Generation Z [ages 16 to 22 ]tend to support socialist ideology, according to VOC’s page.

“When we don’t educate our youngest generations about the historical truth of 100 million victims murdered at the hands of communist regimes over the past century, we shouldn’t be surprised at their willingness to embrace Marxist ideas,” Smith stressed.

He also emphasized the importance of intensified efforts to educate American youth about the history and danger of today’s communist and socialist regimes.

Young people’s views diverge from those of the majority regarding capitalism.

For 61 percent of the older interviewees, capitalism is favorable among the other economic systems, while in the younger interviewees the percentage reached 50 percent.

Seventy percent of the millennials indicated that they were likely to vote for the socialists.

“Anyone with a minimum of historical knowledge and honesty will recognize that revolutionary Marxism has been a total disaster. It has caused nearly a third of the world’s population to suffer horrendously under communism, causing some 100 million deaths in bloody, brutal and cruel acts of homicide,” Cid Lazarou, a blogger, writer and freelance journalist from the United Kingdom, said.

Lazarou recounts the terrible statistics that Smith urges the youngest in the United States be taught.

Similarly, “The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression”—the classic academic text on communist killings—also corroborates the figure of 100 million deaths caused by communism.

As President Donald Trump said at the 2019 U.N. General Assembly, communism only means power for the ruling class.

“Socialism and communism are not about justice, they are not about equality, they are not about lifting up the poor, and they are certainly not about the good of the nation. Socialism and communism are about one thing only, power for the ruling class,” he said.
