An Arizona woman whose car smashed into a suspected drunk driver speeding through a red light, preventing him from striking a family crossing the street, got a new car on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
After seeing a video of the frightening crash that was released by the Phoenix Police Department last Wednesday, Carvana in Tempe gifted 27-year-old Shannon Vivar and her 3-year-old son Drason with a 2018 Chevy Cruz. Inside the car were tickets to Disneyland, according to ABC15.
The incident happened on the night of Oct. 14.
An angel in the form of a Chevy Cruz may have saved the lives of a couple pushing a stroller through a Phoenix crosswalk at 53rd Ave & Indian School.

Shannon Vivar said she didn’t remember the moment when the car she was driving with her mom and young son took the brunt of the impact from a vehicle running a red light, which in turn saved the couple and their child who were crossing the street. She says she was in the right place at the right time.
Miraculously everyone survived, but her car was a total loss.
She said the new car will help her family a lot. For her, it symbolizes a new beginning and a new outlook on life.
“I’ve been having a hard time coping with everything and this makes me feel really good,” Shannon said. “I’ve cried, I’ve never actually had anything like this happen to me so it was really really new to me.”
Officers arrested 23-year-old Ernesto Oveso, the driver ran the red light.
