A Hamlin Middle School teacher was arrested, accused of sexually assaulting a child and an improper relationship between an educator and student.
Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) police reportedly issued a warrant for 47-year-old Anthony Quintanilla’s arrest.
Quintanilla surrendered Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 16, before a warrant could be served, according to Nueces County jail officials.
Quintanilla is the estranged husband of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi President and CEO Dr. Kelly M. Quintanilla, KZTV reported. On Wednesday night, the university released a statement from Kelly Quintanilla.
It reads, “I want to state that I had no knowledge of the allegations made against Mr. Quintanilla. We lived apart for two years and are in the process of a divorce. If I had known or suspected any wrongdoing, I would have reported it to the authorities immediately. This is the only statement I will make regarding this situation and I ask for privacy for my daughter during this difficult time.”
Quintanilla’s bond has been set at $300,000.
CCISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke said he could not release any details on Quintanilla’s arrest because the investigation into his case is still ongoing.
