A gunman shot a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy in the shoulder in the Lancaster station parking lot on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21.

Deputy Angel Reinosa, 21, was standing in the station parking lot in the 500 block of Lancaster Boulevard when shots rang out just before 3 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Capt. Todd Weber.

“He’s been treated, he’s doing well in high spirits,” Weber said. “His family’s with him. We expect he’ll be fine, full recovery.”

Other sheriff’s deputies at the scene were fired upon but were not struck by the gunfire.

Officials believed that the gunman was firing at them from an elevated position in a nearby building.

The suspect is still at large, and no suspect description has been released at this time.
