Leftist legislator, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), mistakenly attributed the creation of the founding of free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch programs in public schools to the extremist Black Panther group.
“Did you know: If you or anyone you know ever benefited from free & reduced school lunch, you’ve likely benefited from the work and legacy of the Black Panthers?” Ocasio-Cortez wrote, according to The Washington Free Beacon, on Oct. 7.
The free student meal program was started in 1946 under President Harry S. Truman.
The Child Nutrition Act of 1966 provided federal funding for the School Breakfast Program (SBP).
The Black Panthers movement began in 1966, using violent tactics. According to The Washington Free Beacon, one of its founders spread the word that one of his goals was to “crush” Western civilization.
The FBI describes it as follows: “The Black Panther Party (BPP) is a black extremist organization founded in Oakland, California in 1966. It advocated the use of violence and guerilla tactics to overthrow the U.S. government.”
Ocasio-Cortez represents the most left-leaning wing of the Democratic Party and has clashed with the most experienced Democrats in the party, such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
At the beginning of the current presidential campaign, she joined Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) but later joined presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Her attitude and statements have been very controversial. She even called the U.S. political system fascism in one of her speeches.
“Because as much as we like to say that the United States is the richest country in the history—or rather, in modern history—for who? The richest country, who cares about how much gold is being amassed if we can’t realize an advanced society with those resources?” she said.
“And we’re here to say that what we’re living in right now is not an advanced society. It is fascism! What we have, what we’re evolving into as well,” added Ocasio-Cortez.
In line with her radical leftist ideas, Ocasio-Cortez supports the riots that have been led by the Marxist black lives matter movement and by Antifa. These riots caused deaths and the destruction of thousands of properties in recent months.
For Ocasio-Cortez, the riots should continue even if Biden wins the presidency on Nov. 3.
In this case, her agenda coincides with the Democrat vice-presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, for whom violent demonstrations are a factor of ‘social change.’
