Amid a statewide death toll and continuing controversy over his handling of New York’s nursing homes during the CCP Virus (coronavirus) pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) is selling posters touting his response to the crisis.

During a news conference in Manhattan on Monday, July 13, Cuomo showed off his 19th-century-style poster touting his state’s, and his own, efforts at “Pulling Down the Curve Together.”

The poster portrays a series of elements that appear to attack President Donald Trump. The painting features an airplane with “Europeans,” “COVID-19,” “Jan-Mar,” and “3 million” on it, suggesting that the virus came from Europe, not China—the claim that the governor made 3 month ago when he said that travel bans enacted by the president were too late to halt the virus’s spread.

The poster depicts President Trump who watches with hands in his lap from a perch inside a crescent moon and says, “It’s Just The Flu.”

Cuomo noted in the poster a significant decline in the virus cases which dropped from 18,825 on April 12 to just 1,220 on June 19 but didn’t mention New York’s staggering death toll.

Cuomo’s poster immediately faced intense backlash with Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) retweeting the poster with statement Cuomo made in April when he praised President Trump’s response to the outbreak.

“He[President Trump] has delivered for New York,” Cuomo said at the time. “By and large is has worked.”

“So Cuomo, who actually sent infected people into senior care facilities and killed thousands, has the arrogance to say this is all Trump’s fault?” host of “YourVoice America,” Bill Mitchell, tweeted. “And now the CDC is covering for Cuomo by making it seem like NY is magically “cured?”

“If my loved one had died in a New York nursing home & I saw Cuomo’s poster tweet tonight would likely end with my arrest,” a Twitter user said.

Cuomo on Monday went on a rant against President Trump, saying that “Trump’s COVID [CCPVirus] scandal make Nixon’s Watergate look innocent.”

“No one died in the Watergate scandal,” Cuomo said. “Thousands of people are going to die in this COVID scandal and that is all the difference in the world. You look at the facts, the facts clearly demonstrate Trump was wrong from day one and New Yorkers have been right from day one. There’s no argument. There’s nothing to tweet about. The facts are in. The numbers are in. Look at the number of bodies. Look at the infection rate. New York’s numbers have declined while the nation is going up.”

Cuomo has been the subject of scrutiny over his order in late March that forced nursing homes to accept patients who tested positive for the CCP Virus. About 6,600 nursing home residents have died from the virus in New York, according to the latest official figures. The New York State Legislature will hold public hearings on senior deaths on Aug. 3 and 10.
