Recently, actor Gary Sinise was given a special award for all the work that he has done over the years for veterans.

Sinise was presented with the Patriot Award at the Simi Valley Reagan Library. It is the highest honor awarded by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

The award honors and recognizes those who have made significant contributions to U.S. military services.

In 2010 Sinise set up the Gary Sinise Foundation in an effort to improve the lives of servicemen and women in the country. His band, the Lt. Dan Band, also performs special events for family members in the military.

In December he flew over 1,700 family members of fallen service veterans for a five-day trip ahead of Christmas to Walt Disney World in Orlando.

Another project he is working on through his foundation is the construction of specially adapted, one-of-a-kind smart homes for wounded veterans.

“These 100% mortgage-free homes ease the daily challenges faced by these heroes and their families who sacrifice alongside them,” Sinise said.
