Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed an executive order on Friday, April 2, to ban vaccine passports across the state of Florida, citing the harm the passports create to people’s individual freedom as they attempt to lead normal lives.
Today I issued an executive order prohibiting the use of so-called COVID-19 vaccine passports. The Legislature is working on making permanent these protections for Floridians and I look forward to signing them into law soon. Read my EO here – https://t.co/6QwLsLWEWm

“Today I issued an executive order prohibiting the use of so-called COVID-19 vaccine passports. The Legislature is working on making permanent these protections for Floridians and I look forward to signing them into law soon,” DeSantis wrote on his Twitter account.
While Democrat Andrew Cuomo of New York launched the nation’s first health passport this April 1 in his state, Florida was the first to ban it.
“Requiring so-called COVID-19 vaccine passports for taking part in everyday life — such as attending a sporting event, patronizing a restaurant, or going to a movie theater— would create two cases of citizens based on vaccination. It is necessary to protect the fundamental rights and privacies of Floridians and the free flow of commerce within the state,” DeSantis wrote.
The executive order prohibits all government agencies, subsidiaries, and businesses from requiring people to have a vaccine passport or any similar documentation where people must prove they are vaccinated to enter a store or conduct everyday business.
DeSantis once again emphasized his willingness to allow all Floridians who wish to be vaccinated to do so but reiterated that the vaccine is not mandatory and that so-called vaccine passports cause harm to people’s privacy and freedom.
“Florida seeks to ensure that every Floridian who desires a COVID-19 vaccine can obtain one, but such vaccines will not be mandated. No COVID-19 vaccine is required by law. Individual COVID-19 vaccination records are private health information which should not be shared by mandate,” the governor explained in his executive order.
DeSantis has gained much popularity among patriotic Americans for his libertarian approach, similar to that of former President Trump and for fiercely opposing the advancement of the Biden administration’s radical leftist agenda.
Following the latest conservative political action conference, the Republican governor’s name rang out among the GOP’s potential 2024 presidential candidates.
