In the days after Hurricane Michael ruptured everyday life, radio station Kick’n 103.5 was a lifeline of information to Florida Panhandle residents.

But the Panama City Beach radio station’s owner, Powell Broadcasting, last Saturday shut down its operations and those of three other Florida Panhandle radio stations permanently because of damage from the Category 4 hurricane.

Despite losing their jobs, two radio hosts turned to their Facebook page to continue providing vital updates on relief efforts.

Tiffany Dunning and Sean Streeter are still putting out information on where to find hot food, ice, phone charging stations and dialysis treatment.

Streeter says in an interview that he is disappointed in the company’s decision to close the stations so close to a disaster. He hopes he and Dunning are filling an information vacuum.
