A toddler in Florida died after being left inside the family’s car most of the day Monday, Oct. 14, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Police officers said the parents of the 18-month-old girl found her unconscious and not breathing in their Jeep and called 911. Tampa Fire Rescue crews arrived at the location at around 6:30 p.m.
The investigation shows that she was accidentally left in the family car outside her home that morning, police said.
The baby’s father used the vehicle to take members of the family to work and school and then came home and changed cars before leaving for work himself, according to Tampa Police Department Public Information Officer Stephen Hegarty.
The girl was taken to a nearby hospital but did not survive.
The case remains under investigation, police said.
