A study published on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) website strongly refutes the effectiveness of facemasks in preventing human-to-human transmission of the CCP virus.

“The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks,” the study concluded.

The extensive study reviews the effectiveness of facemasks, physiological, psychological, and long-term adverse effects on people.

Types of face masks and their effectiveness

There are two types of face masks, medical and non-medical.

Among the medical ones are the surgical masks whose purpose is to prevent the physician from splashing fluids on the patient.

The other type is the N95, which is designed to reduce the user’s inhalation exposure to infectious and harmful particles from the environment.

Non-medical masks include those designed from cotton fabric and other materials.

The filtration efficiency rate of the masks is poor, ranging from 0.7% for non-surgical masks made of cotton gauze fabric to 26% for those made of denser cotton material, while for medical N95 masks, the filtration efficiency rate drops to 15% and 58%.

According to the data provided by the study, the virus has a size of 60 to 140 nanometers (one billion parts of a meter), and the tissue spaces of the masks have a diameter between 55 and 440 micrometers (one million parts of a meter).

In other words, the virus is 1000 times smaller than the spaces between the tissue of the masks, so it can easily pass through the masks.

Physiological effects

Among the various side effects of breathing with masks, the study highlights hypoxemia and hypercapnia.

“In normal conditions at the sea level, air contains 20.93% O2 and 0.03% CO2,” it explains. “These gas concentrations significantly altered when breathing occurs through facemask. A trapped air remaining between the mouth, nose, and the facemask is rebreathed repeatedly in and out of the body, containing low O2 and high CO2 concentrations, causing hypoxemia and hypercapnia.”

Both phenomena cause cardiopulmonary as well as neurological complications, the analysis states.

Other physiological effects of daily and prolonged use of masks include lack of air, increased lactate concentration, decreased pH levels, acidosis, toxicity, inflammation, self-contamination, and increased stress hormones (adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol), increased muscle tension, and immunosuppression.

Psychological effects

The analysis of psychological effects points out the “dehumanization” of people who, using masks, lose the expression of emotions and contact with other people.

“Basic human-to-human connectivity through face expression is compromised, and self-identity is somewhat eliminated. These dehumanizing movements partially delete the uniqueness and individuality of the person who wearing the facemask as well as the connected person,” the study states.

They also generate chronic stress, fear, mood disturbances, insomnia, fatigue, and compromise cognitive performance.

The study concludes emphatically:

“Long-term consequences of wearing facemask can cause health deterioration, developing and progression of chronic diseases and premature death. Governments, policymakers and health organizations should utilize prosper and scientific evidence-based approach concerning wearing facemasks, when the latter is considered as preventive intervention for public health.”

However, no mainstream media reported this important finding, not the first but the most comprehensive.

Personalities such as Dr. Antony Fauci and many authoritarian-loving Democratic governors continue to appear in the news advising to wear masks even after being vaccinated, around the family, and even inside the home. In Michigan, they have reached as far as to force two-year-old children to wear masks.

Considering the results of the study presented here, one cannot but wonder if these characters really care about the welfare of the people or are there something else behind their lousy policies that are unfortunately replicated worldwide.
