NBA star Enes Kanter Freedom criticized the owner of the basketball team Golden State Warriors for prioritizing financial gain over the protection of Uyghurs, enslaved by the Chinese communist regime.
“When @NBA says we stand for justice, don’t forget there are those who sell their soul for money & business like @chamath the owner of @warriors, who says ‘Nobody cares about what’s happening to the Uyghurs’,” he tweeted on Jan. 17.
He added: “When genocides happen, it’s people like this that let it happen Shame!” while adding a video in which Palihapitiya evidenced his disregard for the Uyghur ethnic minority.

Palihapitiya also says in his All-In podcast before co-host Jason Calacanis that basic human rights are like “a luxury belief,” and further defends the CCP by saying, “I’m not even sure China is a dictatorship in the sense that you want to call it.”
This entrepreneur and venture capitalist is also chairman of Virgin Galactic, a company within Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group.
In this vein, netizen @micb5000 responds to Kanter: “Shameful for the NBA, especially coming out on MLK Day. You’d think human rights would be something we all care about.”
Freedom has become a leader who strongly advocates for the rights of the millions of people whose rights are infringed in many ways by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
In other pronouncements he has not hesitated to confront the famous basketball player, LeBron James, over his attitude to the forced labor to which Uyghurs are subjected.
At the time Freedom tweeted, “Money over morals for the “King” [James]. It’s sad and disgusting how these athletes pretend to care about social justice. They really ‘shut up and dribble’ when the Big Boss of China says so.”
He added, “Did you educate yourself about the slave labor that made your shoes or is that not part of your research?” while attaching photos of sneakers made by Uighur labor, possibly in CCP forced labor concentration camps.
Previously, Freedom had lashed out at the CCP calling for freedom for Tibet, a country it invaded and has ruled since 1950, and where it has imprisoned people calling for independence.
Also, he denounced in one of his tweets the CCP for murdering prisoners of conscience to remove their organs and sell them for transplants.
“The Chinese Government engages in forced organ harvesting. Ethnic & religious groups, Tibetans, Uyghurs in death camps, Christians, Falun Gong are all targeted Liver, Kidney, Heart,” he wrote.
He added: “Stop murdering for organs. It is a crime against humanity. End forced organ harvesting in China NOW!”
