A fundraiser to benefit the family of a fallen Worcester hero will feature a popular Massachusetts band.

American Celtic punk rock band Dropkick Murphys will play a short acoustic set at the Worcester Beer Garden and Pavilion on Friday night, Nov. 22, in honor of Lt. Jason Menard, of the Worcester Fire Department, WCVB reported.

The 39-year-old firefighter lieutenant was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 13, while saving members of his crew from a burning home on Stockholm Street.

“Lieutenant Menard heroically and selflessly saved his crew, helping a probationary firefighter to the stairs and then returning to rescue another trapped firefighter, assisting him out the window,” Worcester Fire Chief Michael Lavoie said.

Just hours before he died, he was scheduled to leave on a Disney vacation with his family.

Menard was survived by his wife and three children.

“We hope the local community will rally with us on Friday in support of our fallen hero,” Alfredo Viera, a representative for the Beer Garden said.

The fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. and is being organized by the Worcester Beer Garden and the Greg Hill Foundation.

Tickets are being sold for $30 and can be purchased by clicking this link. The ticket price includes food and entertainment for the evening. A 50/50 raffle will also be offered for visitors.

People are also welcome to drop off checks or cash donations for the family at the Worcester Beer Garden.

All of the donations collected will go to Menard’s family, according to the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts Foundation.

A fund has been established for Menard’s wife and children. Donations can be made through the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts website.

Checks made payable to “PFFM Foundation c/o The Menard Children’s Fund” can also be mailed to:
