Teen Miyah Landers, speaks out after surviving one of those YouTube challenges. Thirteen-year-old, Miyah shared her story, a year after the horrifying experience.

Miyah was rushed to a hospital in August with for burns to her leg and arms and all of her back.

According to WXYZ, after the challenge placed her in the hospital for months, it’s one she understands well.

The teen said after seeing it online, she did the Fire Challenge at home with friends.

It is a troubling challenge where a person uses a flammable liquid to set themselves on fire usually with nearby water.

Miyah said her friend was attempting it and she was accidentally set on fire. Brandi Sholar, Miyah’s mother said she had to extinguish the flames from her daughter’s entire body.

“Don’t do it because it’s not worth it,” Miyah said. “It’s just not worth it.”

“I was scared. I was terrified that I was about to lose my daughter. It was so much fire and all she was doing was crying,” Sholar said.

Miyah spent two months in the hospital bed-bound in a bandage body suit.

The teen spoke about the horrific experience and what happened almost a year later.

“Don’t do it because it’s not worth it,” Miyah said. “It’s just not worth it.”

Miyah said she wants to advocate for other burn survivors and is building care packages with inspiring citations for burn victims.

“I feel obligated to,” Miyah said. “I’ve been through it so I feel like I need to help.
