Former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile on Wednesday, Sept. 18, told Fox News that, even though she has called out President Trump on different issues, she “will respect the office of the president.”

Appearing on Fox News on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” on Wednesday, Brazile talked about why she got attention.

“I get attention because I’m on Fox and perhaps because I’m here on this network, people often think that I’ve either lost my mind or maybe ready to retire,” Brazile responded. “No, the truth of the matter is that I don’t like to do this name-calling, finger-pointing. I’ve been in this world now almost 60 years and I appreciate the contributions of all Americans. I want to try to bring people together. I believe in racial reconciliation.”

A day earlier, on “Fox Nation,” Brazile said that she got asked the question whether President Trump is racist “more than I’ve ever been asked before.”

“Do you know that I get in trouble when I don’t say that. People on my left accuse me of, you know, he’s a racist, Donna. I don’t know what’s in his heart, but I’ll tell you what I disagree with Donald Trump on—I disagree with his tone, his tenor because we are all Americans. We are all fighting for the same thing. And I know that the president wants everybody’s respect, but to get respect you also have to give respect,” Brazile said.

Listing some issues that she “called the president out,” Brazile said that President Trump “like every American citizen and every soul in this universe, should be given an opportunity to come forward and try to bring all of us together as Americans.”

Brazile also stressed that she did not want to energize the president’s base and said that she liked some president’s policies but she also disliked some other policies.

“The second thing is that I don’t want to energize his base, I don’t want to tell people out there that I have some profound personal disagreement with this president. No, it is about the policies that I dislike, but there are policies, when I like what the president is doing, Martha, you know I will say that as well,” she added.

“Some people will like me, some people will not, but here’s what I will do. I will respect the office of the president as long as I’m alive,” Brazile said.

Brazile asserted on “Fox Nation” that she wanted the president to be “the president of all Americans” and “to be as good as this country.”

“I want President Trump to be the president of all Americans, not just his base and not just Republicans, and he is my president.”

“I believe in grace and forgiveness I just want this president to be as good as this country” Brazile said.
