After the driver ran a red light, police said, a day care van carrying children ended upside down on the side of a highway in Brazoria County.

It happened just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the TX-35 and Victory Lane junction in Alvin.

According to ABC13, there were nine children on the Kid City day care van at the time of the crash said the driver ran the red light.

All children were sent back to the day care’s Friendswood location, a few minutes away from the accident site, and reportedly suffered minor injuries such as scratches and bruises.

Police said the van’s driver has been cited.

The Kid City day care proprietor said that all the children are supposed to be fine, calling the kids “resilient.”

Thank you, everyone, for your love and support! Kid city and our families are staying strong, and we are truly blessed that there were no serious injuries. We love our kid city family! ❤️

“This is one of my worst nightmares as a day care owner,” she said. “Our number one job every single day is to keep every child safe, and if we’re not doing that, we’re not doing our number one job. So, when something like this happens, it’s devastating.”

A video from the above of the scene also showed a silver Nissan with visible damage. Police said that this car’s driver has not been taken to a hospital.
