Authorities in central California said that a passenger bus crashed late Wednesday night, Sept. 18, while carrying the road crew for country and gospel singer Josh Turner, leaving one dead and seven injured, according to The Associated Press.
San Luis Obispo County Fire Department responded to a crash in Shandon, California.
The trip followed a Turner concert at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles. The bus was traveling eastbound on Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County when it crashed in Shandon, about 78 miles northeast of Santa Maria.
Two of the passengers were said to have sustained major injuries and five had moderate injuries.
The victims’ names have not been released.
Turner and his band were not on the bus at the time of the crash and were not injured.

“Josh Turner and his road family have suffered a devastating loss,” Turner’s representative Leigh Parr Malleus wrote in a statement to USA TODAY. “Please keep the crew, band and Josh in your thoughts and prayers.”
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
