An inmate in the Duval County jail, Florida, was reportedly beaten to death Tuesday morning by his cellmate, Jacksonville police report.
According to First Coast News, Paul Dixon, 43, has been charged with second-degree murder for killing cellmate David Oseas Ramirez, 56 around 11 a.m. on the fifth floor of the Duval County jail. It does not appear that any weapon was used, but the victim suffered injuries that proved fatal, police said.
According to court records, Ramirez was serving life in prison for lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under 12 years old. He was in the jail waiting an evidentiary hearing in his bid for a new trial.
Dixon was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder. He was convicted of murder in 1993 when he was 17 years old.
